I am in love with the graphic novels of ElfQuest and have been ever since I was very little. I will write more about this graphic novel later. But I was listening to the podcast Geekshow, which I will also write about later, and they had an interview with Wendy Pini, the creator of ElfQuest. She said they are talking about a movie, but they have been for years, so nothing is set in stone. But there is this YouTube video that is a fanmade trailer made by a group of actresses. When Wendy Pini mentions it it must be good, so I saw it, and loved it!! And it also inspired me to reread the whole series. And I can, online (I only have the first parts yet in paperback). They have posted all of the story online for free here: ElfQuest.com
So while waiting for me to do reread and write about it, watch the fan trailer:
My favorite musician is Unni Wilhelmsen. It has been since I was 14 and bought her first album. As I write this I am 28, and the fact that she’s my favorite has never wavered in the last 14 years.
I guess I can call it part of my brains “split personality” traits. My music genera of choice have been metal and hard rock since around the age of 15, and Unni Wilhelmsen is calmer and not so anger based. But her voice and lyrics have always spoken to me, and she is the only musician/band I have kept “faithful” to for all these years, and I will keep buying her albums as long as she makes them.
I have been to two concerts with Unni, and both were awesome. She is even better live than on her albums, which is saying something if you have heard the albums. The first time I saw her life I went alone to her concert at Samfundet in Trondheim. Not sure which year this was, but it could be 2004. As I sat there alone in the dark, listening to the woman whose songs I grew up with tell stories about how the songs I love and which mean so much to me was written, tears were streaming down my face. It was one of the biggest experiences of my life, and I don’t think I have told anyone before how much this moved me. The second time I went with one of my cousins to Olavshallen in Trondheim. I was actually a bit skeptic, because Unni had made an album in Norwegian. And I’m not much for artists singing in Norwegian. I hadn’t even bought the album, but since she was once again in Trondheim I just had to go. This was in 2006. Needless to say the concert was once again awesome. And Unni became my one exception when it comes to Norwegian lyrics. The new songs blew me away, and the album has become one of my favorites. After the concert I actually got to meet Unni in person. I was so starstruck I almost couldn’t say anything. But I bought the album from her, and she signed it. Actually the signature is pretty special, because we found out her middle name is the same as my name, so she signed with both her names and she told me she don’t usually do that. I had forgotten my camera that day of course, so I didn’t get a picture with her. But I did take a picture of her with my cellphone with the sucky camera:
(In those days cameras on phones weren’t good at all, not like now with my HTC Desire HD with an 8mp camera…)
I should stop here. I could keep raving on about how great Unni Wilhelmsen is, but I think you get the point. Instead I leave you with the music videos of one of my favorite songs, "Humbly for her":
PS: I recommend you go to Unni Wilhelmsens MySpace site. There you can listen to some of her songs, and watch her music videos. : Unni Wilhelmsen

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. Or rather listened to as an audio book. I was so caught up in it I went around in a daze while listening to this great story. Allende has a way of writing that kind of sooths me. Is that a weird thing to say? I get swept away to another world inside my head, and I didn’t want to leave it. The story is so good, and I desperately wanted it to be true. It is written so close to reality that you can almost believe it all, but far enough from reality to let you dream and lose yourself in that world. It is a young adult novel, and Amazon say it is suitable for age 10 and up. But don't let that scare the older people off. Allende doesn't write in a "childish" way at all, as I have found in some young adult books. It only means you can share this wonderful book with more people.
She’s more of a comic book character than a cartoon character, but she deserves this one. I have always wanted to meet Nemi, Lise Myhres crazy, childlike and smart goth girl. I have loved this comic since I was a teenager. I collected both the comic and the books, and bought the school-diary.
Nemi is a Norwegian comic strip, written and drawn by Lise Myhre. It made its first appearance in 1997 under the title Den svarte siden ("the Black Side" or "the Black Page"). At that time, it was a very dark cartoon concerning heavy metal subcultures, but Myhre has turned it brighter with the years, although she still frequently publishes strips about serious issues, especially in the larger Saturday panels. The strip was re-named Nemi, its protagonist. It is currently the most popular comic strip in Norway next to another humor strip named Pondus. Source: Wikipedia
Her engagement in important matters, her love for a subculture I was really into, her love for the fantasy genera, her humor, her refusal to “grow up”… It’s hard to describe what I love the most. I often find myself refereeing to the Nemi comic strips when trying to explain what my opinion of something is, or just in general because it’s a hilarious comic. And I always found myself wanting to be more like her.
I started watching The Guild a year or two ago, and I got totally hooked. I had never seen a web-series before, and I loved the concept. And I loved the topic also. I have played WoW, although I never was a big guild player, so I knew the basics of what they were all about. By the way: I love Felicia Day, the main creator and star of the show, and I will dedicate a whole post to her later on, so I won’t go on about that here.
The Guild is a independent sitcom web series about a group of online gamers. The show started in the late summer of 2007, and for the first season was financed solely by Paypal donations from LOYAL FANS. Since season 2, The Guild has been distributed by Xbox Live and Microsoft and sponsored by Sprint. Episodes vary from 3-8 minutes in length, and follow the Guild members’ lives online and offline. “The Guild” has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo Web Series Awards in 2008, and 3 Streamy Awards in 2009: Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble, and Best Actress for Felicia Day. The Guild is about a group of very different people gaming together as a guild in a game called The Game. Before the series starts they have never met, and are not especially interested in each other’s private lives. All that matters is the guild. That changes when Codex, the main character, gets one of the guild members on the door telling her he’s going to sleep on her sofa because he just moved out of his mother’s house. This is the start of the funny and weird adventure where the guild members get to know each other in person, and eventually become friends. There are of course many other things that happens in the show too, but that would be spoilers. And I try not to do them too much on this blog. What I can say is that as the show grows they have a lot of good geeky cameos and guest stars. Some of my favorites is Wil Wheatons recurring role, and the cameos of Neil Gaiman and Stan Lee.
So all that is left to say is that if you haven't seen it, here is the first episode of season 1. See it, enjoy it, get totally hooked.
I’m a grown up girl, so yes I do drink alcohol now and then, less now than I used to though. This summer I found something that I had missed a lot from Epcot in Disney World, frozen margaritas! They used to sell them in the Mexican pavilion there, and it was always our first stop when “drinking around the world”. I had been thinking a lot about it, so I told to my friend Liz who went to bartender school about it. She told me that you can buy bags with a powder in them, add tequila and water and then freeze it. When you take it out of the freezer the next day you have frozen margaritas in a bag. Genius!! So I actually found these bags at a store in my town and made frozen margaritas for a veranda party we had this summer. They are exactly as I remember them from Epcot! And I can drink a lot of them without getting sick or too drunk. So now I have 3 bags standing on top of my fridge waiting for the next parties they would be convenient to bring.
This was also a hard choice. Mostly because I don't keep sad pictures on my computer. I like the ones that make me smile. So I had to think about what makes me sad. The answer was someone I love dying. But I thankfully have no pics of such a thing. So the next best thing is Severus Snape dying. I really love him, and Alan Rickman, and I cried my hart out at the movies when he died.
Of all the memes around the internet Filosoraptor is my all-time favorite. I have had serious discussions about things on Filosoraptor pictures. But they can be dangerous, as in you can keep yourself awake at night if you start wondering one of the Filosoraptor questions. I collected some of my favorites for you:
He is weird, he is cute, he is funny, he's got unlikely hair, he is Tim Minchin! This song is one of the cutest I know! It is worth a share for all my sweet geeks/nerds out there. And for those who just likes a funny guy with a piano.
